Important data securely protected
Touch ID turns your fingerprint into your password. Use your fingerprint to instantly access protected documents, notes and system settings. You can also complete your online purchases with Apple Pay with just a touch of your finger. You don't have to enter any delivery or billing information and your credit card details are never shared. The Secure Enclave coprocessor integrated in the M3 chip is the basis for important security functions; it creates security at the hardware level. Among other things, it manages the Touch ID data and enables real-time encryption of all data stored on the SSD.
keyboard and Force Touch trackpad
The latest generation of the MacBook Air features the Magic Keyboard. The revised scissor mechanism has a key travel of 1 mm, so you can type directly, comfortably and quietly. The individual LED backlight and the ambient light sensor make typing easier in low light. The large Force Touch trackpad serves as a mouse replacement. Thanks to pressure sensors, the MacBook Air knows not only where you are pressing, but also how hard you are pressing. This allows many control options that conventional touchpads cannot handle, such as different speeds of fast forward when playing a video or pressure-sensitive drawing.
Thunderbolt 3
The Thunderbolt 3 port is the fast all-rounder among peripheral interfaces: Its form factor is identical to the current USB Type-C port, and is therefore easily compatible with USB Type-C devices. However, its speed leaves that of other peripheral ports far behind: 83x faster than USB 2.0, 8x faster than USB 3.0 and twice as fast as Thunderbolt 2. This means that in addition to numerous peripheral devices in series, you can also connect hardware-hungry extensions, from external graphics cards to 4K monitors.
